David S. Goodsell of The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California is the author of the Protein Data Bank Molecule of the Month series, exploring structure-function relationships of a new (and interesting) protein each month. His unique style depicts the crowded cross-section of a cell, showing all the macromolecules in the same scale and appropriate concentration. David is collaborating with the CBM and 3D Molecular Designs to develop this molecular artwork into cellular landscapes. In addition, the CBM is developing ‘clickable’ landscapes that allow further exploration of the macromolecules present in the landscape.
