CREST III
In CREST III, a researcher winning an American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) annual award was selected. Teams from across the United States explored and built physical models of proteins related to this research. Team members attending ASBMB presented posters, attended the award lecture, then met with the research team to discuss the research in a CREST Conversation.
2020-2021
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, teams met virtually with the research lab.
Project Overview – focus on SARS-CoV-2 proteins
Initial CREST Conversation December, 2020 – Plenary Session
Second CREST Conversation April 10, 2021 – Team Presentations
2019-2020
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the ASBMB annual meeting was cancelled. Teams completed projects but were unable to meet with the research lab.
Project Overview – focus on drug design to prevent drug resistance

CREST II
In the CREST II Project, teams from across the United States identified a local research mentor whose research they explored throughout the year. Teams designed and built models to tell a molecular story of the structure and function of the protein. Due to the distance between teams, there were no formal gatherings of all teams. At Alverno College and Concordia University Wisconsin School of Pharmacy, students explored protein topics as part of a course.

CREST
The original CREST project involved teams in southeastern Wisconsin who were paired with a local research mentor to explore a research topic. Projects were presented at a CREST Symposium at the end of the school year.
