Connecting Researchers, Educators and STudents (CREST) is an NSF-funded project whose goal is to engage early career undergraduates in the community of science. An award-winning researcher who will present at a regional or national conference is identified in the fall. CREST Teams explore a protein related to this research topic, then design and build a physical model of the protein to tell a molecular story of how the protein structure contributes to its function. Team members then attend the meeting at which the researcher is presenting their work. Following the presentation, CREST teams meet with the researcher and colleagues (with their models) to discuss the research in a CREST Conversation.
